First Sentier Investors achieves B Corporation Certification

Tuesday, 15 November 2022: Leading global investment manager, First Sentier Investors (FSI), today announced its certification as a B Corporation (B Corp), a global certification obtained if a company meets high social and environmental performance standards, transparency and accountability.

B Corp certified companies are for-profit organisations that show evidenced commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

To achieve certification, B Lab undertakes a B Impact Assessment which scores companies across a range of categories including governance, workers, community, environment and customers. The rigorous assessment process measures a company’s social and environmental impact by analysing internal policies, partnerships, environmental outputs, social contributions, metrics used for tracking impact and methods employed to ensure that its impact is positive.

Companies require a minimum of 80 points in order to obtain certification. FSI achieved a score of 107.2.

FSI Chief Executive Officer, Mark Steinberg, welcomed the certification as it supports the firm’s commitment to becoming a more responsible business.

B Corp ertification provides us with an important point of differentiation in our industry, and represents a commitment to meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

“Through the certification process, our operations were rigorously assessed to gain assurance that our business is operating to high standards from an environmental, social and governance point of view. We were also able to identify areas where we can improve,” he said.

B Corp certified companies are assessed every three years on whether they continue to meet the rigorous, evolving standards.
